چکیده

In safety dominant industries, nondestructive evaluation (NDE) is crucial in quality assurance and assessment. Phased array ultrasonic testing (PAUT) as one of the NDE methods more promising compared with conventional (UT) method terms inspection speed flexibility. To incorporate PAUT, techniques should be qualified, which traditionally performed by extensive physical experiments. However, development numerical models simulating UT method, it expected to complement or partly replace experiments intention reduce costs operational uncertainties. The validated ensure its consistency reality. This validation work can done comparing model other corresponding purpose current focuses on experimental a model, simSUNDT, developed Chalmers University Technology. Validation conducted different data presentations (A-, B- C-scan) from simulated results some well-defined artificial defects. Satisfactory correlations observed comparisons. After validation, sound field optimization aiming at retrieving maximized echo amplitude certain defect started using model. also reveals flexibility parametric studies simulation models.

Application of Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing Technology on Inservice Wheel

In this paper, an Ultrasonic testing method for inservice wheel by use of phased array technology is introduced. To meet the ultrasonic test criterion of inservice CRH wheel, groups of phased array probes and conventional probes are combined used. By study echo wave in wheel rim and wheel disk form different probes, defect analyzing methods in wheel rim and wheel disk are studied. Tests on CRH ...

Simulation Study on the Acoustic Field from Linear Phased Array Ultrasonic Transducer for Engine Cylinder Testing

Ultrasonic phased array inspection technology is widely used in nondestructive evaluation (NDE) applications and it has been proved to be an effective method for flaw detections in industry. In our study, this nondestructive evaluation method is proposed to detect the corrosion defects on engine cylinders. In order to demonstrate its feasibility, it is necessary to study the characteristics of ...

Quantitative Ultrasonic Testing of Pressurized Components Using Sampling Phased Array

Ultrasonic testing and evaluation procedures typically depend on reference reflectors to establish detection sensitivity and evaluation of test data. Rules and regulations governing safety-related components emphasize on test procedures that assure the detectability of discontinuities at all over the component and oriented in any arbitrary direction. Existing procedures, however, do not provide...

Application of ultrasonic phased array in acoustic logging

A new ultrasonic phased array transducer to increase the imaging resolution of the borehole wall is presented for acoustical logging. We fabricate a cylindrical phased array which is made up of 128 piezoelectric elements distributed on the surface of a cylinder uniformly. The working frequency of each element is 0.5MHz. Through the switch array, different combinations of the elements can lead a...

Optimization of Ultrasonic Phased Arrays

Ultrasonic phased arrays are an emerging technology in nondestructive evaluation (NDE) applications. A phased array is a multi-element piezo-electric device whose elements are individually excited by electric pulses at programmed delay times [1]. Such a delay scheme allows electronically controlled dynamic beam control. One of the advantages of using phased arrays in NDE applications over conve...
